YL females
In order to obtain the best mother animal for production of slaughtering pigs, DanBred Landrace can with advantage be crossed with DanBred Yorkshire. Herby, full heterosis is obtained, which is reached, when two nonheritable individuals are crossed. The YL female has received all the good characteristics from both the father and the mother, and moreover, heterosis is obtained. You might say, that 2 + 2 = 5. This means, that the YL female gets maximum fertility, that is, many liveborn piglets, good mother characteristics, and high longevity.
At Maaling, sows, that are not used for production of purebreds, are inseminated with Yorkshire semen. A YL female from Maaling can be delivered at all ages and always with focus on good legs and claws as well as a functional udder.
At Maaling, we have a clear goal of being able to deliver YL females with highest possible index, as this can be seen directly in the economics of our customer.
We also have a clear goal of delivering females at the age, that the customer requires. Due to the size of our herd, we have the possibility to deliver a rather big number of animals per age group.
All YL females are evaluated and approved by head of department Jacob E. Jørgensen and/or the owner Claus Petersen prior to delivery.
