History
The family farm Maaling
Breeding Centre Maaling is owned by Maria and Claus Petersen who are the 9th generation on the family farm. The farm is idyllic placed in the south of Jutland, Denmark, only a 30 minutes drive from the border to Germany. Historically, Maaling can be traced back to the year 1778, where the farm was moved out from the small village Skelde, and since then, it has been owned by the same family. The farm was given a fork as mark, which is still used today as an important element in the identity of the company.
In time, the farm has been expanded and developed, and is today a top modern agricultural company with focus on pig breeding and crop production. Maaling has been a multiplier farm with production of YL females for more than 10 years, and has since 2010 also been a breeding centre. In 2023, we acquired a hatching egg production.
Today, there are approximately 1,000 sows at Maaling, hereof about 850 Landrace sows and 150 Duroc sows. There is a yearly production of about 30,000 piglets. Hereof around 8,700 YL females for sale, 3,900 LL females and boars for own substitution, sale and AI, as well as 1,900 DD females and boars for own substitution, sale and AI. There is sold about 11,500 YL males at 7 kg. We have a crop production of about 300 ha.
The total workforce counts today about 18 fulltime employees.
